Minutes from the Monthly Meeting of the
Doylestown Business & Community Alliance
Held October 11, 2005 8:00 a.m.
Doylestown Borough Hall
OPENING INTRODUCTIONS by Pam Mikula, President
TREASURER’S REPORT - Sal LoCicero was not
available for this meeting.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Holiday – Ken Hackman reported that we’ll
use a new sound company at a lesser charge thanks to Paula Frame’s
suggestion. Thank you, Paula. The new company will need a deposit
to “perform” for Santa’s arrival. Our holiday
celebration is Nov. 25th at 6pm.
Membership – Our goal is to get renewal
letters out for 2006 membership the 2nd week of January.
Merchants – Midnight Magic will be Friday,
December 9th. Shops will be open late and special activities will
occur at participating merchants throughout town. The last First
Friday was not too great due to inclement weather. We will not be
having a Halloween decorating contest this year, but there will
be a holiday decorating contest with details to come.
Publicity – Linda Brinker reported that
we will be getting press releases out about the dreidel unveiling.
Fall Arts Festival – The festival was a
great success. Thank you to Rich Slabinski and his committee. Thank
you, also, to all of the volunteers. Without your help, this festival
could not happen.
Visitors Guide – Some merchants are interested
in joining this committee to research a more graphically appealing
map. Next year, more volunteers are needed to help with distribution.
Flowering Baskets – Leslie Bilotta reported
that the volunteer day to take down the baskets was a success. Many
volunteers attended and the work was completed by 12:30pm. Thank
you to everyone who helped. And thank you to Dunkin’ Donuts
of Doylestown and Starbucks for their donations of doughnuts and
coffee.
Nominating Committee – Rick Kempes reported
the 2006 board nominees have been chosen. They will be announced
in the invitation to the Annual Meeting and Cocktail Party at Aldie
Mansion (Nov. 17th).
OLD BUSINESS – The Victim Support Program
has been very successful. In collaboration with the District Attorney’s
Office and NOVA, we have 9 Doylestown restaurants providing lunches
to victims of crime: Mesquito Grille, Ristorante Pane E Vino, Chambers
Bistro and Bar, Villa Capri, Schade's Little Store, Steak and Hoagie
Factory, Nat's Pizza, The Hoagie Works and The Bagel Barrel.
NEW BUSINESS – Paula Frame from David Frame
Gallery and Framing announced that they are relocating to 8 E. Court
St on Oct. 23rd. Congrats, guys! You can still contact them at 215-345-1705.
GUEST SPEAKER – Peggy Dator, Executive Director
from the Free Clinic of Doylestown, spoke about their wonderful
services for our community. Thank you, Peggy, for sharing this information
with us. Peggy can be reached at (215) 345-2260.
