Minutes from the Monthly Meeting of the
Doylestown Business & Community Alliance
Held September 13, 2005 8:00 a.m.

OPENING INTRODUCTIONS by Pam Mikula, President
TREASURER’S REPORT - Sal LoCicero reported
the cash balance as of 08/31/05 was $26,499.03.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Holiday – Ken Hackman reported that a new
Santa is being interviewed for this year. A tree has been offered
and will be examined. Santa will arrive in town on Friday, November
25th with festivities at 6pm. We will have a dreidel unveiling ceremony
as well. Dunkin’ Donuts in Doylestown has agreed to donate
donuts for that night! We will be decorating town on Sunday, November
13th at 9am at Starbucks.
Membership – Jack Mikula reported that as
of this meeting, we have 278 members. Of those, 209 have supplied
email addresses.
Merchants – Judy Dixon reported that Midnight
Magic will be Friday, December 9th. Shops will be open late and
special activities will occur at participating merchants throughout
town.
Publicity – We have a $2000 credit with
the Intell in exchange for their sponsorship of the Arts Festival.
Fall Arts Festival – Everything is set for
this weekend’s festival. Cindy Goodin has agreed to co-chair
in 2006. Thanks, Cindy!
Visitors Guide – The additional 5000 copies
have been printed. Maps are always available at Doylestown Bookshop.
Flowering Baskets – The baskets need to
be taken down on Sunday, October 2nd at 9am at Starbucks. Please
bring a ladder and a partner. WE NEED MANY VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS,
so please try to come out and help.
OLD BUSINESS - The nominating committee has selected
nominees for the 2006 board.
NEW BUSINESS - The DBCA is part of a group of
local organizations banding together to help Katrina victims. Central
Bucks Cares (cbcares.com) is raising funds to send medical and other
supplies and possibly staff to areas in need. Participating merchants
of First Friday Doylestown have raised over $1000 for the fund.
We’ll be collecting for the fund at the Arts Fest DBCA booth.
Thompson Organization is currently collecting for their own truckload
of supplies.
Barbara Gross discussed the Central Bucks Healthier Community Team’s
Boomerang Lunch sponsored by Outback Steakhouse in Jamison. Community
members gather to select student awardees for community recognition.
She is always looking for community members to participate in the
judging. If you’re interested, contact her at bgross@dh.org

GUEST SPEAKER – Jonathan Maberry from the
Writers Room of Bucks County discussed the many great programs they
have to offer to the community. More info at writersroom.net.
