Minutes from the Monthly Meeting of the
Doylestown Business & Community Alliance
Held June 10, 2003 8:00 a.m.
Doylestown Borough Hall
President, Bruce Rutherford welcomed everyone, and those present
introduced themselves.
Treasurer's report: no report.
Fiddler on the Roof: Bruce thanked Don Stevens and
his committee for organizing a great evening at Town and Country
Players. Don thanked his committee, Stuffits and Doylestown Hospital
for food and beverages respectively, and Gene Serino and Gloria
Stevens for handling parking. Proceeds are not yet finalized; we
should net about $1200.
5 K Race: Bruce reported for Brian Boger that May
24 was a rainy day which kept the number of runners (and proceeds)
down. A financial report was not yet available.
Website: www.doylestownalliance.org. Pam Mikula showed
the Doylestown Borough newsletter; she will write an article for
the fall newsletter about the DBCA Arts Festival.
Mule: Pam Mikula reported that the DBCA sponsored
Mule installed at Court and Main was vandalized a few days ago.
It has been removed for repairs to a hole in its side; that section
will then need to be repainted. Pam asked about writing a letter
to the editor about the incident. She will draft and circulate a
letter via email for review by the DBCA Board.
Membership: Barbara Gross introduced new business
member Don Raskin of A New Dawn Therapeutic Massage. Barbara has
packets for any prospective members.
Summer Cocktail party: June 26 at Fonthill's Terrace
Pavilion; $10 charge. Postcard invitation was mailed. Need final
count by June 16. Payment can be mailed or dropped off at Rutherford's
Camera Shop or Soverign Bank.
Arts Festival: Crafter sign up is strong. DBCA will
need volunteers for an information table; a better system to safeguard
the cash is needed at this table.
Holiday Decorations: Cheryl Hearn announced that
we will re-use hanging baskets; spike plants will need to be removed.
We are still looking for a Santa and trees. The next committee meeting
will be July 10 6:30 at Borough Hall.
Map: Maps are printed and supply is at Rutherford's.
7500 were printed; a volunteer will be distributing.
Revitalization Board: Bruce R. will attend June meeting.
Next meeting: Tuesday September 9, 2003 at 8:00 a.m.
at Doylestown Borough Hall. There will be no regular membership
meetings in July or August.
