Doylestown Business & Community Alliance
Held April 12, 2005 8:00 a.m.
Doylestown Borough Hall

OPENING INTRODUCTIONS by Pam Mikula

APPROVAL OF MINUTES – With no objections, minutes from the February meeting were approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT - Sal LoCicero reported the cash balance as of 03/31/05 was $31,364.34.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Holiday – Ken Hackman reported that we made a settlement with GKI for the berries on our holiday decorations (they were the wrong color). We are owed $420.00. Barbara Gross is keeping up with periodic updates on the dreidel.

Membership – As of this meeting, we have the following membership counts: 73 resident, 98 business, 14 professional and 24 non-profit. To increase our membership, 4000 membership letters were inserted in the latest Borough Newsletter. Thank you to John Davis and the Borough for allowing us to do this.

5K Race - We need volunteers to help with this event o May 28; contact Brian Boger at bboger@tradenet.net if you can help.

Merchants – First Fridays is now a committee of community members and will not be a DBCA event. Anyone interested in serving on this committee should contact Judy Dixon at 215-348-9003.

Publicity – Linda Brinker reported that two DBCA ads were in the Intelligencer to announce our membership drive.

Fall Arts Festival –Planning is going well.

Visitors Guide - Rick Kempes is working with Jack Mikula on getting the final version to the printer.

Flowering Baskets – All of the flowers have been planted. Thank you to Patty White and her volunteers for doing such a great job. But were not done yet!!! We will be hanging the baskets on Sunday, May 22, 9am at Starbucks. Please bring gloves, a cordless drill, ladder and a friend! We will have some ladders and drills on hand.

Town and Country Players – Linda Plank and Ken Hackman reported that this year’s benefit performance will be Painting Churches on Tuesday, June 7 at 8pm. Tickets are $15 and are available by calling Ken at 215-601-9653.

OLD BUSINESS
We will sponsor the Designer House on Friday, May 6th. Volunteer hosts are still needed. Each host will receive a complimentary ticket to come back to the house within 2 weeks after hosting ($20 value). Hosts always have lots of fun! If you can volunteer, contact Joyce Hanson – jhanson@yorktownmanor.com or 267-488-0398.

NEW BUSINESS
Molly Lowell announced that this year’s Folk Fest at the Mercer Museum will be May 14-15.

Barbara Gross reported that the Y2C Arts Thang will be changing format this year. It will now be an ongoing event involving merchants as a Walking Art Tour within several locations throughout town. The dates will be June 3-12th. This is still a work in progress.

We need new sponsor(s) for morning breakfasts as Roosevelt’s’ has acquired a new owner. We would love to see a different food sponsor each month. Sponsors’ names will be included in any printed materials concerning the meeting and will be thanked with a sign on the breakfast table. Please contact Pam Mikula if you can sponsor – 267-308-0148.

GUEST SPEAKER – Linda Brinker from the Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau gave us an overview of the Bureau’s mission and some interesting statistics about the different regions in Bucks County. This is a wonderful organization for businesses in the region to belong to. More info at experiencebuckscounty.com.
