is needed; bring ladders and/or cordless screwdriver
with Philips head if you can.
Web site: www.doylestownalliance.org. Pam Mikula
reported that we have 66 members email addresses; a reminder about
today's meeting was sent out. We need to clarify who needs to use
the database and for what.
Membership: Barbara Gross thanked Gail Balderson for
her help with renewals so we can print the map.
Miles of Mules: Painting of the mule is moving along.
12 kids are taking the art class at the Conservatory of Music. We
don't know yet where the mule will be shown when it is finished.
Summer Cocktail party: Pat Senn reminded everyone that this
will be June 26 at Fonthill's Terrace Pavilion. There will be a
$10 charge; a postcard invitation will be sent out.
Holiday Decorations: Cheryl Hearn announced that we
are looking for a new Santa and need more people on the committee.
The meter covers will be used again but we're not making any new
ones. We will not re-use the baskets; other ideas are in development.
We need a big tree donated for the center of town.
Borough report on Court House development- Phil Ehlinger
of Doylestown Borough gave an informative presentation about the
Borough's involvement in the discussions of a location of a new
judicial center for Bucks County. Mr. Ehlinger gave an historical
review of Borough development, the implementation of an historic
architectural review board in the 80s, Main Street Manager program
of the 90s, and the hiring of a consultant by the Borough to develop
options to a location for a new courthouse. The location of a new
facility has been hotly debated locally. Mr. Ehlinger noted that
for the health of the business district the Borough wants to keep
the courthouse in the center of town. Many DBCA members participated
in an ad in the Intelligencer endorsing keeping the courthouse in
the center of town. The county has agreed conditionally on the site
of Shewall Ave. and Main Street (the location proposed by the Borough).
The Borough is providing some incentives to the County for this
downtown location. The county has hired an architectural firm. Any
construction would not begin for another 2 years. Mr. Ehlinger addressed
issues of disruption downtown during construction and concerns over
increased traffic in town.
Revitalization Board Meetings: Bruce R. and Jack
Mikula attended the last meeting; Kurt Balderson is here today representing
the revitalization Board.
Other:

Friday May 2 6-8:30 p.m.- volunteers needed; there's a $10

Hall.
Respectfully submitted,
Bruce Rutherford, DBCA President
