Minutes from the Monthly Meeting of the
Doylestown Business & Community Alliance
Held March 8, 2005 8:00 a.m.

OPENING INTRODUCTIONS by Pam Mikula
APPROVAL OF MINUTES – With no objections,
minutes from the February meeting were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT - Sal LoCicero reported
the cash balance as of 02/28/05 was $17,532.10.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Holiday – Ken Hackman and Bobby Newton acquired
the trailer for storage. It is in place at the Borough lot.
Membership – Jack Mikula reported that all
previous members who were on the map last year have been contacted
about membership this year. Potential new members have also been
contacted.
5K Race - Don Raskin said planning is going well.
Merchants – There will be a meeting on April
1 at 8:30am at Paint N’ Pottery to discuss First Fridays.
Publicity – Linda Brinker reported that
a DBCA ad was in the Intelligencer twice this month to announce
our membership drive.
Fall Arts Festival – Rich Slabinski reported
that planning is going well.
Visitors Guide - Rick Kempes hopes to get the
map to the printer by April 1.
Flowering Baskets – We will be prepping
the baskets on Tues. April 5 and Thurs. April 7
from 5-7pm at the Delaware Valley College Greenhouse (accessed from
the road next to the new farm market on Lower State Rd.). We will
be planting the plants on Sat. April 9 from 9am-1pm.
If we do not finish, we will be planting on Sun. April 10 at 9am.
Please check the website Saturday afternoon to see if we need you
on Sunday. MANY VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO MAKE THIS SUCCESSFUL!!!
Please try to attend at least one of those days.
OLD BUSINESS
Ken Hackman and Linda Plank have agreed to co-chair the Town and
Country Players benefit this year. They need two more people for
their committee. If you can help, please contact them at jkhpb200@hotmail.com
or lplank@dh.org.
NEW BUSINESS
Doylestown Borough has agreed to insert our membership request letter
in their next newsletter. This will save us a lot of money! 4,000
copies will be distributed. Thank you to John Davis, Borough Manager,
for helping us out.
Our annual hosting night at the Designer House will be Friday,
May 6. Leslie Bilotta will work on a poster to display at the event.
We need 4 more volunteers to be hosts from 6:15-8:30pm. Each host
will receive a complimentary ticket to come back to the house within
2 weeks after hosting ($20 value). Hosts always have lots of fun!

GUEST SPEAKER – John Davis, Doylestown Borough
and Joan Doyle, Doylestown Revitalization Board
John and Joan gave us an inside glimpse to new “friendly changes”
throughout the Borough for new parking regulations. Potential changes
include converting 37 meters on W. and E. State St. to 10-hour limits;
converting all remaining 2-hour meters to 3-hour meters; adding
handicap spaces; creating 15-minute free spaces, converting eleven
10-minute spaces in Kenny’s parking lot to five 15-minute
free spaces and six 3-hour limit. They also discussed adding new
signage and marking spots with lines on the pavement. Thank you
for the first hand information. Their public meeting will be held
on March 14 at 7:00pm at Borough Hall.
