Minutes from the Monthly Meeting of the
Doylestown Business & Community Alliance
Held February 11, 2003 8:00 a.m.
Doylestown Borough Hall
President, Bruce Rutherford welcomed everyone, and those present
introduced themselves.
Treasurer's report: Lynn Preblick gave the treasurer's report
and announced that we have operating funds and memberships are coming
in. Rich Slavinski reported that he is pulling together budget information
and hopes to have a budget by April.
Web site: The Mikulas reported that the website is up and
running- www.doylestownalliance.org. They are working on the member
list; members will be able to link their site to the DBCA website.
Committee Reports:
Fiddler on the Roof: May 20th DBCA will host an evening at
Town and Country Players; Don Stevens is coordinating and is waiting
for tickets. We can sell food at intermission if we choose.
5 K Race: Bruce R. reported in Brian Boger's absence that
the festival has been scaled back. Brian will handle the race and
is working on some small festivities at the end of the race.
Hanging Baskets: Planting of baskets will probably be in
April; date to be announced.
Membership: Barbara Gross reported that membership renewals are
coming in. She has packets for prospective members and is looking
for other volunteers to assist with membership.
Miles of Mules: Joyce Hanson is working on getting another
sponsor @ $500. Angela Mikula, an art teacher, was contacted about
painting the DBCA mule. She presented a draft design "By the
light of the silvery mule." Joyce is waiting for clarification
from the Michener Museum on a number of points. A space is needed
where the mule can be painted and where the community can perhaps
be involved. The Community Conservatory of Music expressed an interest
in cooperating with the project.
Holiday decorations: Cheryl Hearn has agreed to chair.
Summer Cocktail party: The reception will be June 26 from
5-7 p.m. at Fonthill's Terrace Pavilion. Pat Senn will need assistance
with this function. Bruce mentioned that this is a nice gathering
since we do not have monthly meetings in July or August.
Other business:
Jack Mikula raised the question of a Publicity Committee and its
function. He is working on the web site which is a sub-set of Publicity.
He plans to provide the Patriot newspaper with a monthly column
about DBCA but needs information. The first article will be a general
one on the DBCA and what the organization does. Information on the
play at Town and Country Players would need to be given to him.
Announcement: Women and Business Committee of the Central
Bucks Chamber of Commerce will hold a Gourmet Getaway March 6 at
the Courthouse; tickets are available at the Chamber's offices.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
Next meeting: will be Tuesday March 11th at 8:00 a.m.
at Doylestown Borough Hall.
Respectfully submitted,
Bruce Rutherford, DBCA President
