Doylestown Fall Arts Festival

Minutes from the Monthly Meeting of the
Doylestown Business & Community Alliance
Held January 13, 2004 8:00 a.m.
Borough Hall

Diane Bochenek opened the meeting and began introductions.

Minutes were emailed or sent by mail to those without email. With no corrections the minutes were approved as reported.

Lynn gave the treasurer's report. 2003 Projected Budget, copies are available. The revenue column looks like it is short on member fund but the funds came in 2002. The revenues did exceed the expenditures by $1,681.32. Balance in operating account is $3,502.56. The Reserve balance is $10,118.62 in a C.D. We still have an outstanding bill for flowers but have not been billed to date. We received acknowledgements for the donations for Bill Rea and Barbara Dommel. We received $800.00 from the Art Museum for the sale of our mule.

The Calendar of Events for 2004, most of the dates have been confirmed.

Committee Reports:
We are still seeking a chairperson for the Visitors Guide Map Committee.

Diane reported on the good holiday season. Everything is now completed. She thanked the volunteers who helped in undecorating Doylestown. There were not many volunteers this year. Pam suggested a sub committee be formed to make sure all religions are represented in our holiday decorations. Bobbie Newton is chair person for Holiday 2004. Pam has offered to be on the sub committee.

The dates for planting the Hanging Baskets are April 18th and May 23rd.

Brian Boger will chair the 5K Race again this year. He will have a report at the next meeting. The race is Saturday, May 29th.

Bill Mount will chair the Arts Festival this year. The Board of Directors decided to pay Bill's secretary an hourly rate to do the clerical work involved in the festival. Rich Slabinski will co chair with Bill this year.

Pam Mikula is chairperson for publicity. The web site alone takes a lot of time. Pam is looking for someone to help her with this committee. She wants publicity to be strong so we get the recognition we deserve.

The deadline for the Borough Newsletter is January 16th. Try to get DBCA information to Pam.

Don Stevens is chairing the Town and Country Players event again this year. Last year it was very successful. This year it will be a comedy. The date will be June 9, 2004 and the tickets are $15.00. This committee is well staffed. Don will give confirmation on date at the February meeting.

Old Business - try to use the permit parking and not use the spots near stores. Leave these spots for customers.

We are back to drawing board to find a park or street to name in Barbara Dommel's memory. Don Stevens suggested the street that comes into the parking lot from Court Street and runs to State Street. It is between Starbucks and The Real Estate Office.

New Business - The Town Center committee will be reopened. They will be working very hard to get many of the town center merchants to join. Rich Slabinski is sending out the applications for membership.

Our Guest Speaker was Lt. Mike Cummings, Doylestown Boro Police Department. Mike gave a very interesting presentation.

Diane distributed the calendar of events for DBCA for 2004.

Next meeting -Tuesday February 10, 2004 8:00AM Boro Hall. Guest speaker will be a representative from the Revitalization Board.

With no further business Diane closed the meeting.
